Olympic National Park - June ‘26

Olympic National Park, and the Hoh Rainforest more specifically, have become synonymous with the dark greens and shadows of Twilight. I was never into the books but I’ve seen the first movie like most Millennials. You instantly think of drenched, lush forests, and a quiet darkness. This might be true during the rainier seasons but my experience was bright and sunny.

The mosses were impressive but I should have come during the fall or winter to capture the rainforest of it all. Since we made this a day trip from Seattle, we arrived midday in less than ideal shooting conditions. I did get to see some wildlife and soak in the sheer magnitude of the Sitka Spruce.

Afterwards, we were able to grab some fish and chips to enjoy at Ruby Beach. The amount of driftwood was amazing to see, stacks and stacks, sun bleached on the shore. The view from Ruby Beach is stunning and I would have loved to spend more time there.
